Israel Pays Homage to the Indian Soldiers on Haifa Day

Flag of Jodhpur Lancers & Major Dalpat Singh Shekhawat

Israel pays homage to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to liberate the city of Haifa in WWI.

Haifa Day is celebrated on September 23 every year to pay respects to the three Indian Cavalry Regiments – Mysore, Hyderabad and Jodhpur Lancers.

Hyderabad was in reserve. Mysore was sent to silence the canons. The frontal charge was carried out by the Jodhpurs only with swords and lances in their hands. It’s the Jodhpur lancers which lead the cavalry charge amidst heavy odds set against them.

Captain Aman Singh Jodha and Major Dalpat Singh Shekhawat of Jodhpur lancers played a decisive role in the battle which resulted in the complete destruction of the Turks.

When Major Dalpat was hit by enemy firing, it was Capt Aman Singh Rathore (Jodha) who had rallied the men and had liberated the Haifa.

The frontal charge was led by the Jodhpurs only with swords and lances in their hands.

Israel has posted the picture of the insignia of Jodhpur Lancers and Hero of Haifa, Major Dalpat Singh Shekhawat of Jodhpur Lancers in the post. Thank you, Israel for remembering the sacrifice of the Bravehearts.
