Picture of Silver drachm issued by Pratihar King Mihir Bhoj in 9th century

Mihir Bhoj was a devotee of Shri Vishnu and chose for himself the name Adivaraha. Pratihars were the main force which halted Arabs’ advance east of Sindh and Multan. South Rajasthan and north Gujarat were the strongholds of the Pratihar Rajputs. They ruled over Gurjara nation and their dynasty is known as Gurjara Pratihar dynasty.

Note - Whoever ruled over the Gurjara nation was called Gurjara Naresh and that’s why Gaekwad kings too were called Gurjara Naresh. The word Gurjara does not denote a jati but a nation.
